5. Cumming School Medicine - Doctor of Medicine

The Cumming School Medicine of the University of Calgary offers a three-year professional degree leading to a Doctor of Medicine (MD). The program is full time and requires year round enrolment.

Leaders in Medicine Program (LiM)

The LiM joint degree program offers students the opportunity to pursue graduate studies (Master’s, PhD or MBA) in conjunction with the Medical Doctor Program (MD). The goal of this joint program is to train highly motivated students to become the future leaders of clinical and investigative medicine. Students who have been offered admission in both the Undergraduate Medical Education program and a Graduate Program at the University of Calgary are eligible for the LiM Joint Degree Program.

The LiM Affiliate program is designed to allow University of Calgary students enrolled in medical school, who are completing or have completed a graduate degree or who were accepted into medical school without a graduate degree but have a strong interest in research, to participate in the program if interested in both the clinical and research part of medicine.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
