*Students may apply to one of the specializations provided that their main research plan falls within the scope of the specialization. Application should occur once admitted to the VMS graduate program.

In addition, the University of Calgary offers the joint Leaders in Veterinary Medicine Program leading to the combined DVM/MSc or DVM/PhD degrees. Students applying to the DVM/MSc or DVM/PhD program must apply individually to each program and complete a supplementary application for the Leaders in Veterinary Medicine Program. Further information regarding the Leaders in Veterinary Medicine Program is provided under the Combined Degrees section in this Calendar.

Doctoral graduate students are normally admitted as full-time students. The Faculty of Graduate Studies may however, approve requests for registration as part-time or transfer from a full-time to a part-time status.
