Description
Fundamentals of materials science with emphasis on the structure of materials and processing-structure-property relationships: atomic models; equilibrium phase diagrams; kinetics and non-equilibrium transformation diagrams; thermo-mechanical processing; microstructure formation and control; strengthening mechanisms; material selection; and an introduction to fracture.
Prerequisite(s): 3 units from Biomedical Engineering 322, Engineering 311, or Physics 449.
