Description

A rigorous introduction to the theory of vector spaces, with an emphasis on proof writing and abstract reasoning. Topics include fields, subspaces, bases and dimension, linear transformations, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of 90 per cent or higher in both Mathematics 30-1 and Mathematics 31 or consent of the Department.

Antirequisite(s): Credit for Mathematics 213 and 211 will not be allowed.

Courses may consist of a Lecture, Lab, Tutorial, and/or Seminar. Students will be required to register in each component that is required for the course as indicated in the schedule of classes.
