P.4.9 Exchange Students

The amount of tuition fees assessed and the institution to which fees are to be paid are determined by the exchange agreement that is in effect at the time of the commencement of the program.

Outgoing University of Calgary undergraduate exchange students are automatically opted out of the Student Health and Dental Plan only. To opt into the plan, students must complete the appropriate opt-in form available from the Student Health and Dental Plans Office or from their exchange co-ordinator.

Incoming undergraduate exchange students from other institutions are not assessed the Student Health and Dental Plan fee. Students should contact the Student Health and Dental Plans Office to inquire about insurance options.

Graduate students: An exchange student pays tuition fees at the home institution when this is written into the specific exchange agreement, and applicable general fees at the University of Calgary. If there is no reciprocal fee agreement, the exchange student pays applicable tuition and general fees at the University of Calgary.

Western Deans’ Agreement (graduate students): Students pay tuition and general fees at the home university and applicable general fees at the host institution.

Inquiries regarding general fee assessments should be directed to Enrolment Services (undergraduate students) or the Faculty of Graduate Studies (graduate students).

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
