There are specific Program and/or Faculty requirements when the BA in Dance is combined with either the BKin Kinesiology or the Bachelor of Education. For those requirements refer to:

Introduction

This five-year program leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the Faculty of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the Werklund School of Education. A minimum of 150 units must be successfully completed.

Admission

Applicants to the BA Dance (Dance Pedagogy concentration)/BEd concurrent degree must meet the admissions requirements for the Faculty of Arts, School of Creative and Performing Arts, Dance major and the Werklund School of Education (see A.5 Undergraduate Degree Admission Requirements).

Faculty of Arts Graduation Requirements for the BA Dance (Dance Pedagogy concentration)/BEd Concurrent degree

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts Requirements - Major Degree Requirements except that students are exempt from the requirement to take 6 units from the Faculty of Science.

The concurrent BA Dance/BEd requires at least 150 units and the successful completion of both degree requirements as outlined below. A maximum of 60 units may be at the junior level. (as outlined in Faculty of Arts - Combined Degrees)

BA Dance Requirements

Earn at least 48 credits from the following:

27 units from the following Core Courses: Dance 207, 209, 231, 233, 305, 307, 333, 347, 481
3 units from the following Studio Options: Dance 215, 309, 311, 313, 321, 343, 363, 391, 395, 405, 431, 435, 491, 503, 581
18 units from the Dance Pedagogy Concentration: Dance 235, 359, 427, 447, 449, 493

Other Requirements

Earn at least 6 credits from the following:

3 units School of Creative and Performing Arts 499
3 units from the Field of Drama or the Field of Music

BEd Program Requirements

Refer to Bachelor of Education (BEd) Five-Year Concurrent program and the Werklund School of Education section of the Calendar.

Note: Students in this program must complete Education 201 (EDUC201) before they can enter their first year in the Werklund School of Education.
