General Program Information

There is a requirement of full-time study for the course-based Master of Arts program.

The work completed in the course-based Master of Arts program is considered equivalent to a major research project and is appropriate for students who intend to proceed to doctoral studies. The departmental academic requirements for the course-based Master of Arts degree are comparable to those for the thesis-based Master of Arts with the exception that the thesis requirement is replaced by an additional 12 units of graduate courses.

*The MA, course-based is a continuous program with no scheduled break.
