Program Admissions Information

In addition to Faculties of Graduate Studies admission requirements and Arts requirements, the Department requires:

a) Applicants will normally hold a Master of Arts degree in Economics, or its equivalent, with a high level of proficiency in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and econometrics. If courses were completed more than five years prior, students may be required to upgrade their knowledge in these areas.

b) Three reference letters.

Direct entry from bachelor studies: Applicants who have completed a BA with outstanding academic performance may apply to the course-based MA program. With the approval of the Graduate Program Director, admitted students may register in first-year PhD-level courses. Successful completion of the MA, including any approved PhD-level coursework, may permit placement into the second year of the PhD program upon admission to the PhD.
