Admission to Concentrations:
Biological Sciences students can apply to a concentration online through their Student Centre from October 1-February 1 for admission the following fall. The concentrations are optional and not required for program completion. Students can apply after their first year and up until their final year. To be admitted to the concentration, students must have completed 18 units, including Biology 211 and 213, before the February 1 deadline. In addition, students will require a competitive GPA, which will be determined annually and calculated using the most recent course work. See A.5.3.1 for GPA computation guidelines.
Student Standing:
Any student in an Honours program is subject to the provisions for continuation in an Honours program, Subsections 3.2 and 3.4C.
Honours students in the Biological Sciences program who do not qualify for continuation in honours will be moved into the Biological Sciences Major BSc Program. Honours students admitted to a specialized program (Biochemistry; Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology; Ecology; Plant Biology; or Zoology) who do not qualify for continuation in honours may be moved into the Major BSc Program of their current specialized program.
Students with a GPA of less than 2.00 are subject to the provisions of 3.7 Student Standing, B. Performance Review, Probationary Status and Dismissal.
