I.4 Appeals of Reappraisals

Prior to appealing a graded term work or final grade (final academic assessment) reappraisal decision, a student must complete the reappraisal process set out in Sections I.2 Reappraisal of Graded Term Work or I.3 Reappraisal of Final Grades (Final Academic Assessments), as appropriate.

Appeals of reappraisals of graded term-work are made to the Faculty offering the course, whose Faculty Appeals Committee is the final level of appeal for graded term-work.

Appeals of reappraisals of final grades are made first to the Faculty Appeals Committee of the Faculty offering the course, and then to the University Appeals Committee in accordance with the Student Misconduct and Academic Appeals Policy. The University Appeals Committee is the final level of appeal for final grades.

Appeals made to a Faculty Appeals Committee must be made within ten business days of the reappraisal decision and in accordance with that Faculty Appeals Committee’s procedures available at ucalgary.ca/student-appeals/calendar-policy-procedures/individual-faculty-procedures.

For process information and additional resources regarding appeals, visit the Student Appeals Office website: ucalgary.ca/student-appeals.

Students may obtain information and support with understanding grade reappraisal appeals processes and with submitting an appeal from the Student Ombuds Office. For more information, visit ucalgary.ca/student-services/ombuds. Additional support is available from Student Wellness Services: ucalgary.ca/wellness-services.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (districts 5 and 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
