Admission to Honours

General admission criteria for the Faculty of Arts can be found in section A.5 Undergraduate Degree Admission Requirements of this Calendar.

The Faculty of Arts procedures for Admission to Honours established in section 3.3.2 Honours Degrees are applicable and provide the overall framework. Students wishing to apply to an Honours program must apply through their Student Centre for a change of program to Honours by February 1. Please see the department website for the supplementary application deadline. The qualifying grade point average for eligibility for admission to the BSc Archaeology Honours programs is typically set higher than the minimum 3.30 level for the Faculty of Arts.

In addition, admission to this program requires completion of at least 75 units at the time of application.

An approved supplemental application found on the department website (arts.ucalgary.ca/anthropology-archaeology) to ensure that students have a supervisor for their honours thesis.

The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation within Alberta (including Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6).

The University of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
