You can take fewer courses, study part-time, take time away, or complete courses in a different order, as long as you meet all prerequisites and program requirements. Courses listed in a specific year or term, including requirements such as Science or other options, do not have to be taken in the exact semester shown. The sequence provided represents one recommended way to complete the degree, but it is not the only way.

When adjusting your course sequence, it is generally recommended that you prioritize requirements in your major field so that you remain on track for future course progression. This is especially important for courses that serve as prerequisites for later requirements.

Students are responsible for reviewing course prerequisites before registration to ensure they are eligible to proceed into future courses. Please note that, in most cases, students must complete at least 18 units at the 200 level before registering in 300-level Faculty of Arts courses. Course access may also depend on prerequisites, restrictions, course availability, and other registration rules.

Capstone and senior-level courses should generally be completed in the final year of study. These courses are intended to build on and integrate knowledge gained throughout the degree, and taking them earlier may not provide the intended academic experience.

Your path may look different depending on your previous coursework, transfer credit, course availability, and personal circumstances. This suggested degree map does not fully account for individual situations such as transfer credit, exchange credit, repeated courses, reduced course loads, or other complex academic circumstances.
