Note:
maximum 6 units of directed studies courses may be taken;

Advanced Credit
As this is a thesis-based transdisciplinary program, there is a possibility for students with significant background to request Advanced Credit. Applicants must make advanced credit requests as part of the admission process. Advanced credit will not be granted towards TDST 600 or 601, even if students have completed a similar course previously.
Time Limit
Expected completion time is two years for the Master of Transdisciplinary Research. Maximum completion time is four years.
Supervisory Assignments
Applicants must contact faculty members directly regarding supervision prior to submitting an application. Students will not be accepted unless at least one faculty member has indicated a willingness to act as supervisor. The supervisor, in consultation with the student, selects a Supervisory Committee consisting of the supervisor, a co-supervisor (if applicable), at least one other faculty member whose research experience will be beneficial to the student's graduate program, and at least one non-academic committee member who serves as a knowledge expert demonstrated by their professional background, lived experience, community validation, or resume.
Thesis Research Proposal
The supervisory committee must approve the research proposal within 12 months of the start of the program.
If applicable, after the proposal is approved by the student’s supervisory committee, students can proceed with applying for ethics certification.
Thesis Examination
All students in thesis-based programs must successfully pass the Final Thesis Oral examination (see Thesis Examinations)
Scheduling of the Examination
All members of the Supervisory Committee must have reviewed the student’s research and the draft thesis document before the examination can be scheduled.
Composition of the Committee
The examination committee will consist of the supervisory committee plus an internal examiner (who may be internal to the supervisor’s home program).
All students will receive a minimum funding guarantee that is equal to or greater than the minimum outlined in the Faculty of Graduate Studies Funding Operating Standard.
Financial assistance may be available to qualified students.
Students are expected to apply for the scholarships and awards for which they are eligible.
