Program sequence information for Four-Year BEd (on-campus):

Students in the Four-Year BEd have the option of taking their Fall EDUC 400-level term in the Fall of Year 2, or continuing with their non-Education requirements in Year 2 and doing their Fall and Winter EDUC 400s in Year 3. Some teachable subject area requirements make one option or the other more feasible, but in many cases, either option can work as long as you pay attention to the typical scheduling of your teachable subject area courses and any pre-requisites.
You must successfully complete EDUC 201, before you may take your Fall EDUC 400s, and you must successfully complete your Fall EDUC 400s before you may take your Winter EDUC 400s. All other program requirements must be complete before you may begin your EDUC 500s.

Non-Education Requirements:

The Four-Year BEd includes 8 courses in your teachable subject area (please see the specific requirements for your teachable), 6 foundational courses (one course in each of 6 areas), and 5 open options.
With regard to the foundational requirements, in the degree guide below, we have made recommendations that reflect the most commonly taken foundational courses, however, most foundational requirements can be covered by a wide range of courses – complete course lists can be found in your Academic Requirements report. Foundational course recommendations listed in your first year are limited to 200-level courses as students must complete 18 units before they may take 300-level or higher courses. Further, many 300-level or higher courses have pre-requisites or registration restrictions (when spots in the class are reserved for certain groups of students), which means that even if the course could work for the requirement, it is not necessarily accessible for you to take.
When registering in your non-education term, we encourage you to prioritize courses that are required for your teachable subject area, followed by foundational requirements, and finally, electives. There may be some courses that can be taken in the Spring or Summer terms, if desired, but not all courses are offered in every term, and in particular, Spring and Summer terms are limited in their offerings.

EDUC 400 and 500-level requirements:

The EDUC 400 and 500-level terms must be taken on a full-time basis, as distinct semesters - you cannot take any non-Education courses during your Education terms, nor can you 'mix and match' with other EDUC classes.
