Completion requirement

In addition to the Faculty of Graduate Studies requirements, the program requires:

The delivery format of the program is different from the Haskayne MBA program and requires more integrative types of sessions and activities. However, the program requires many of the same courses as are required in the Haskayne MBA program. The Executive MBA has 42 units of required courses with 18 units of additional courses for a total of 60 units.

In general, students in this program are expected to follow a general curriculum rather than electing an area-specific specialization. However, there is the opportunity to elect a specialization in Finance.

Finance Specialization

Students taking the Finance specialization will complete 12 units in the area of Finance: course (3 units) plus 9 units of 600-level Finance courses.

Completion requirement

Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade)

Students admitted to the MBA (course-based) program, Executive MBA program or Executive MBA Specializing in Global Energy program will not be allowed to request the Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade) for any course that is applicable to their degree; or apply any course awarded a grade of CG towards their graduation requirements.

Students may not choose the CG grade for a course taken extra to load.

The use of the CG grade will not affect students' eligibility for internal awards.


Time Limit

Participants enter the program as a cohort and are expected to complete the program requirements at the same pace, typically over the same 20-month time frame. Maximum time limit: six years.
