G.3.1 Final Examination and Final Assessment Principles


Assessments that occur during the final examination period as defined by the Academic Schedule include timed final examinations and final assessments. Courses may only include one planned assessment (final examination or final assessment) during this period.


Final Examination Principles

a. All timed final examinations are scheduled by the Registrar during the examination period for the term in which the course was scheduled, as defined in the Academic Schedule.

b. Students and course instructors must be available for the entirety of the final examination period as defined in the Academic Schedule.

c. One final examination may be scheduled per course.

d. The final examination may not count for more than 50 per cent of the final grade.

e. Timed online final examinations will provide one additional hour for contingency.

f. Final examinations for Asynchronous online courses, where all students must start and finish at the same time require approval from the Dean or designate of the faculty offering the course.

g. Final Examinations for courses delivered in their entirety in an online modality must be scheduled online.
